I have been building a trellis entryway. Here are a couple pictures over the past few working days...
This picture shows installing the cross members of 2" Douglas Fir. When I started, I wrapped existing 4x4 treated posts with 1" thick tight grained Douglas Fir. The lattice and cross timber are Western Red Cedar. The materials were cut on a local band saw mill, and there were inconsistencies in the thickness. I had to shuffle through lumber to find the right pieces, which takes extra time, but it is rewarding to find the right pieces. I built this in about 5 days, total work time, but there were several half days due to heavy rain.
Continuing the trellis and wrap around to the garage...
I finished up today, and the sky hurled hail at me in celebration. I don't want to talk about those cypress trees...
