Procession of the Species 2013

This year I was a procession volunteer, so I kept the art studio open for a 3 hour shift once a week.  There were lots of terrific costumes and floats built this year, including the much heralded 36 foot gray whale, the irrigation pipe giraffe and the weather balloon nudibranch.  I made this Mongoose mask during my shift at the studio.  The old growth cedar shaving whiskers were my finishing touch.

I was hoping to battle my friend Tim as a cobra, but Tim did not finish his costume, so I decided to create my mortal enemy yesterday with an old bike tire.

The epic mongoose vs. cobra battle ensued on my front lawn (pre-procession).
